N.A! Fund is excited to present “Bloom Again”, an artistic object created by Petros Chytiris and Ifigenia Vasiliou during the 5th N.A! Fund Academy that took place in Eleusis, Greece from May 22nd to 27th 2017.
Looking ahead to Eleusis 2021, a European Capital of Culture committed to art and sustainable development, a group of twenty artists, students and scientists from Greece, Bulgaria, Italy and Turkey held a dialogue with local inhabitants on how to build and develop sustainable projects in Eleusis.
Each group was invited to bring a tutor. Elena Mazzi came with her Italian partners, Nezaket Tekin joined the Turkish students, Sumuil Stoyanov was with the Bulgarians and Nikos Navridis with the Greeks. “Bloom Again” is a testament to this tripartite effort, which produced an art installation based on permaculture and other works.
At our “Bloom Again” Academy, some twenty young Mediterranean artists and their teachers joined the N.A! Fund team in Elefsina from 22nd to 27th May. The goal was to solidly anchor culture within the city through friendly interaction and shared experiences with local residents.
Elefsina has been named European Capital of Culture for 2021. Many were surprised by the choice of this industrial city west of Athens. While its ancient glory is undeniable, unfettered industrial development has transformed Elefsina’s landscape and today, its Greek statues stand against a backdrop of abandoned factories and chimneys.
